We would like to reach an agreement with Adif to make this possible, as discussions regarding the Mediterranean Corridor do not always highlight the key role that rail terminals play as freight catalysts\".<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right; font-size: 14px;\">Pablo Antol\u00edn, managing director of Railsider Mediterr\u00e1neo<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"panel-116966-2-0-1\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-editor\" data-index=\"4\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-sow-editor so-widget-sow-editor-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t>\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n\t<p>The company believes that <strong>Portbou could become a reference point in railway development<\/strong>, capable of bringing a significant volume of goods to the rail network thanks to the existing infrastructure. In this regard, Railsider is hopeful that in the coming years a UIC gauge connection with the rest of Spain can be established beyond the Le Perthus route, whose capacity is expected to be limited in the medium term.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Railsider Mediterr\u00e1neo has recently adapted its terminal in Sagunto to the European gauge<\/strong>, a process already implemented in Portbou and <strong>set to be completed in Barcelona by the end of 2025<\/strong>. This will make it <strong>the first Spanish operator with all its facilities connected to Europe via UIC gauge<\/strong>, enabling direct train operations and maximising added value for its clients.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, a certified workshop for preventive wagon maintenance will be set up in Sagunto, with the aim of reducing both downtime and the costs associated with transferring wagons to other repair centres.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sagunto remains one of the company\u2019s main operational hubs on the Mediterranean Corridor<\/strong>, with goods linked to the ports of Valencia and Sagunto, as well as to steel producers and processors. In 2024, the terminal handled a total of 327 trains, an increase of 7.6% compared to the previous year. The volume of goods by rail and road reached 414,400 tonnes, a 52.7% increase over 2023.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Among the standout services is the palletised cargo route between Spain and Germany<\/strong>, connecting Sagunto with the company\u2019s warehouse in Perpignan, from where 1,500 wagons carrying goods such as wine, alcoholic beverages and paper were managed. <strong>Railsider remains committed to the ceramics industry,<\/strong> to which it aims to offer an efficient and competitive intermodal solution.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><div id=\"panel-116966-2-0-2\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-button panel-last-child\" data-index=\"5\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-sow-button so-widget-sow-button-flat-96a7da9c2097-116966\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t><div class=\"ow-button-base ow-button-align-center\"\n>\n\t\t\t<a\n\t\t\t\t\thref=\"https:\/\/www.railsider.com\/en\/contact\"\n\t\t\t\t\tclass=\"sowb-button ow-icon-placement-left ow-button-hover\" \t>\n\t\t<span>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tInterested in learning more about our logistics solutions?
