Rail Sider Mediterráneo has been awarded, ex aequo, the Premios Corredores 2026 Award for Excellence in the Supply Chain for RAILSIDER Door2Rail, its integrated logistics network for steel products.
The award highlights the recent launch of a new rail service connecting the industrial and port hub of Sagunto with the Barcelona logistics area through a door-to-door solution in approximately 24 hours.
The service starts with three weekly frequencies, with the aim of reaching five rotations in the coming months, responding to the growing demand for more efficient, competitive and sustainable logistics solutions for the steel industry.
The operation is supported by Railsider’s own terminals in Sagunto and Barcelona and is operated with Medway traction, reinforcing rail freight capacity along the Mediterranean Corridor.
A door-to-door solution for the steel industry
RAILSIDER Door2Rail is designed to simplify logistics operations for industrial customers through an integrated model that combines road and rail transport.
The service includes collection by truck at origin, rail transport between terminals and final delivery by road at destination. This combination enables an agile solution with a fixed price, no false freight costs and a lower environmental impact compared with alternatives based exclusively on road transport.
In addition, Door2Rail facilitates rail connectivity for terminals, industrial parks and port locations that do not always have direct access or sufficiently efficient rail connections. In this way, Railsider brings rail closer to industry and helps optimise supply chains with high cargo volumes and regular logistics flows.
Boosting rail freight on the Mediterranean Corridor
The launch of Door2Rail is part of Railsider’s strategy to promote rail freight along the Mediterranean Corridor, one of the main logistics and industrial axes in Southern Europe.
During the Premios Corredores 2026 award ceremony, the representative of Rail Sider Mediterráneo thanked the organisers for the recognition and highlighted the role of this new service in improving the connectivity of terminals, industrial areas and ports through multimodal solutions.
With this award, Rail Sider Mediterráneo strengthens its position as a specialist operator in steel logistics and consolidates Door2Rail as a strategic solution for moving towards more efficient, sustainable and reliable freight transport.
