The new rail service connects the industrial hub of Sagunto with the Barcelona area through a door-to-door logistics solution within 24 hours, strengthening rail transport of steel products along the Mediterranean Corridor.
Railsider has launched RAILSIDER Door2Rail, a new rail service dedicated to the transport of steel products between Sagunto and the Barcelona area.
The service starts with three weekly frequencies, with the objective of reaching five rotations in the coming months, responding to the growing demand for more efficient logistics solutions in the steel industry.
The rail shuttle connects the industrial and port hub of Sagunto with the Barcelona logistics area, using Railsider’s own terminals at both locations, enabling the company to offer an integrated logistics solution.
Rail traction for the service is provided by Medway, strengthening rail freight capacity along the Mediterranean Corridor.
A door-to-door logistics solution for the steel industry
Door2Rail is designed to simplify logistics operations for industrial customers through a door-to-door transport model combining road and rail.
The service includes:
-
truck collection at origin
-
rail transport between terminals
-
final delivery by truck at destination
This model allows deliveries within approximately 24 hours, with fixed pricing and no hidden surcharges, while offering a solution with lower environmental impact compared with road-only transport.
A door-to-door logistics solution for the steel industry
The launch of this service supports the strategy of reinforcing rail freight transport along the Mediterranean Corridor, one of Southern Europe’s key industrial and logistics axes.
Industries such as steel, characterised by large volumes and regular logistics flows, benefit particularly from rail transport as an efficient and sustainable solution.
With Door2Rail, Railsider continues expanding its network of specialised rail services for the steel logistics sector.
