After the inauguration of the KRONOSPAN Burgos railway siding in 2024, where RAILSIDER ATLÁNTICO played a key role by positioning Iberian gauge wagons adapted for the transport of wood boards, the company takes another step towards sustainable and international logistics.
Starting this year, RAILSIDER ATLÁNTICO has launched a regular rail operation between its logistics platform in IRÚN and the LOGIFER terminal in Moulins-lès-Metz (France, CP 57160). From this strategic point, KRONOSPAN's products are distributed across the Grand Est region of France — including Alsace, Champagne-Ardenne, and Lorraine — as well as to Luxembourg and Germany, thus expanding its European hinterland.
This 1,100 km rail service between origin and destination is completed in just 48 hours, demonstrating the efficiency of intermodal rail transport. Furthermore, it is estimated that the CO₂ emissions generated on this route are up to five times lower than those of road transport, reaffirming KRONOSPAN’s environmental commitment and its bet on decarbonizing freight transport.
With this new international connection, RAILSIDER ATLÁNTICO strengthens its position as a key player in the development of sustainable rail logistics solutions, promoting the growth of rail freight transport and contributing to the achievement of climate goals in the European logistics sector.
