Railsider Rail Logistics successfully completes the wagon modernisation project, replacing cast-iron brake blocks with “LL” composite blocks, supported by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility and European Union NextGenerationEU funds.
Railsider Logistics Railways has successfully completed the project “Investment in freight-wagon re-equipping – Reducing acoustic pollution in the rail transport sector” (file PATSYD-22-00095), within the framework of the Support Programme for Sustainable and Digital Transport (PATSYD 2022), co-financed by the European Union – NextGenerationEU and managed by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility.
The action consisted of replacing cast-iron brake blocks with type “LL” composite brake blocks in wagons of the PJJ5, PJJ7 and PXX series, replacing a total of 6,416 brake blocks. This modernisation allows compliance with the Noise Technical Interoperability Specification (TIS), the European regulation establishing acoustic limits to promote more silent and sustainable freight rail transport.
With this investment, Railsider guarantees that its wagon fleet meets the required noise levels to operate both on the national and international rail network, reinforcing its competitiveness in intermodal transport and offering solutions adapted to strategic sectors such as steel and industry. In addition, the aid received amounts to €110,113.60, awarded in a competitive call under the PATSYD programme, which drives the modernisation and digitalisation of rail transport in Spain.
This project consolidates Railsider’s commitment to innovation, sustainability and interoperability, contributing to reducing the environmental impact of rail transport and aligning its operations with European environmental and regulatory objectives.
