The 26th RAG/TAG Meeting of the Mediterranean Rail Freight Corridor brought together railway companies, terminals and stakeholders linked to the Mediterranean Rail Freight Corridor in Tarragona. Railsider took part in this technical and consultative meeting with contributions on the Portbou node, corridor resilience and international rail connectivity.
The meeting provided an opportunity to share information on the development of the corridor, review incidents affecting rail traffic and gather input from the main operators and terminals involved in its evolution.
The RAG/TAG meetings of the Mediterranean Rail Freight Corridor act as consultation spaces between corridor managers, railway companies and terminals connected to its activity. Their aim is to promote the exchange of information, identify operational needs and move forward with improvements that contribute to a more efficient and connected rail freight network.
During the session held in Tarragona, Railsider shared its contributions regarding the Portbou node, a strategic location for international rail connectivity and for the development of logistics solutions linked to rail freight transport.
Among the key aspects addressed was the importance of strengthening the resilience of the corridor, advancing solutions that improve traffic continuity and enhancing Portbou’s role as a logistics node within the Mediterranean axis.
The meeting also addressed issues related to the development of standard gauge and international gauge (UIC), the adaptation of infrastructure to new rail traffic flows, and the challenges that may affect the efficiency and continuity of freight services.
Railsider’s participation in the RAG/TAG Meetings of the Mediterranean Corridor reinforces the company’s position in strategic locations for rail logistics, its connections, and its alignment with the main stakeholders of the European freight corridors.
